Every 3rd child in India is malnourished, and every 2nd tribal child suffers from malnutrition. The poorest section of society is caught under the vicious cycle of poverty and malnutrition passed on from generation to generation. UN adopted a resolution declaring UN Decade of action on nutrition from 2016 to 2025. The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG #2) to zero hunger, aims to end all forms of malnutrition by 2030, making sure all people especially children have access to enough nutritious food all around.

To overcome this, the Indian government launched a national nutrition mission named Poshan Abhiyan in March 2018, launched by the Prime Minister as the Indian government’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers for holistic nutrition. To create awareness about nutrition, September month has been officially declared as the month of nutrition i.e Poshan Maah.

To help propagate this initiative by the government of India, SHARP NGO (www.schoolindia.org),  India’s largest school health network PAN India, which has been working in the field of health for the last 23 years, is organizing a national-level conference on nutrition – Poshan Panchayat’22 on 24th September at Vivanta by Taj, Surajkund.

The national nutrition conference aims to bring together all the stakeholders like govt officials, policymakers, academicians, nutritionists, CSR Leads, NGOs, grassroot workers, schools and parents to discuss the reasons for the increase of malnutrition post-COVID and come out with innovative and local solutions which can be used to tackle malnutrition. The conference will be inaugurated by Ms A Dhanalakshmi, Joint Secy to Govt of India. The conference is one of its kind, where the Panchtatva strategy is being used to achieve the goal of dealing with the need for nutrition in the country. Poshan chaupal will showcase the deliberations to discuss the interventions which can be used to combat malnutrition. This will be complemented with interesting segments such Poshan mela which will consist of various nutria education game stalls such as the ring game, the blindfold game & heads-up!!And Poshan pakwan will promote eating a nutritious and healthy diet. Poshan dangal, this segment will include academic competitions highlighting the themes of nutrition and health by research scholars from the field of nutrition.to recognize the efforts made by schools, corporates and individuals to promote nutrition and health will be facilitated at the end of the event.
