Gold chains and flashy jewelry have been part of hip-hop and rap culture for several decades. Gold made its way into the industry in the 1980s with artists like Run DMC and Flava Flav boasting ostentatious pieces. The trend of wearing gold chains continues in 2021, and most famous rappers can often be seen sporting these expensive pieces. Out of all jewelers, there is one that stands out from the rest. Chosen by some of the biggest names in the hip-hop and rap industry, VOBARA is a custom jewelry designer based in Miami, Florida.
VOBARA stands out from all other jewelers because the brand strives to create quality custom jewelry at an affordable price. VOBARA custom pieces are made in all shapes and sizes, so customers of all budgets can afford them.
Founded by Alex Arabov, the name of the company is actually Alex’s last name spelled backward. The company name is an homage to Alex’s late father, his biggest inspiration, who passed when he was 8 years old.
“My father was in the jewelry business with my uncle, Jacob the jeweler. Watching them when I was younger is the reason I came into the game,” Arabov says.
Rick Ross Boasts His VOBARA Pieces
VOBARA is nowadays one of the best-known custom jewelry brands, especially among rap stars. One of VOBARA’s greatest supporters is Rick Ross, an American rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, and record executive.
Rick Ross is known to have a vast jewelry collection, and VOBARA actually designed a significant number of his pieces. The iconic “CEO” pendant that Ross is often wearing is the first custom piece VOBARA designed for him.
Besides Rick Ross, VOBARA is known for collaborating with numerous other artists, including Soulja Boy, Quavo, and Kodak Black.
Kodak Black’s Loyalty to VOBARA
Before entering the jewelry industry, Arabov himself worked within the hip-hop industry, shooting music videos. Arabov worked with numerous hip-hop celebrities, including Kodak Black. Arabov and Kodak formed a special bond since Kodak was genuinely inspired by Arabov’s creativity. Kodak even hired Arabov to design his Institution album cover, which became Kodak’s big break in the hip-hop scene.
When VOBARA launched their signature piece, the Apple Watch pendants, Kodak gave Arabov his full support. The famous rapper promoted VOBARA products frequently on social media, and he wore them to special events. The two formed a special friendship, and when Kodak was released from jail in 2018, the first piece of jewelry he purchased was a custom Star of David pendant from VOBARA to show his loyalty and support the brand. Thanks to VOBARA, all hip-hop and rap fans can afford quality jewelry worn by their favorite stars. Arabov and his team do not only take care of their famous customers, as they treat everyone equally. As Arabov says, “If you call us from the moon, we’ll make sure we get you a custom piece and find a way to ship it to you.”
